About Selene Therapy & Wellness

Selene Therapy & Wellness was created as a space for thoughtful, practical support when life feels heavier, more layered, or harder to make sense of than it once did.

The name Selene comes from the Greek goddess of the moon. She is often associated with reflection, cycles, steadiness, and quiet presence. That meaning felt fitting for a practice grounded in the understanding that mental health is rarely static. There are seasons of clarity, seasons of strain, and times when familiar ways of coping no longer feel enough. Therapy can offer space to better understand what is happening and what may be needed moving forward.

At Selene Therapy & Wellness, the goal is not to force experiences into neat categories, but to recognize that many people arrive carrying overlapping challenges; emotional strain, mental overload, changing roles, disrupted sleep, shifting identity, or the growing sense that life feels harder than it used to.

Melinda Aspell is a Registered Social Worker providing virtual therapy for adults across Canada.

My work is grounded in creating a thoughtful, supportive space where people can better understand what they are experiencing, make sense of patterns that may be keeping them stuck, and begin moving toward greater clarity and steadiness.

My approach is warm, thoughtful, and conversational. Sessions often feel natural and easy to engage in, which can make therapy feel less intimidating, while still being guided by clinical insight, intentional questions, and meaningful therapeutic work. Many clients are surprised by how much can unfold through what feels like a genuine conversation.

I believe therapy works best when it feels collaborative rather than prescriptive. My role is not to tell you who you are or what you should do, but to help you notice patterns, understand yourself more clearly, and find ways forward that feel realistic and aligned with your life.

I also understand that people often come to therapy after spending a long time trying to manage things on their own. Sometimes what brings someone to therapy is a clear challenge; other times it is simply the growing sense that life feels heavier, harder, or less manageable than it once did.

My work is practical and responsive to the realities of daily life. Alongside insight and reflection, therapy often includes identifying useful strategies, strengthening coping skills, and creating change that feels sustainable rather than overwhelming.

My work is also supported by advanced training in adult ADHD, menopause related mental health, and evidence based approaches for sleep difficulties, allowing therapy to remain responsive to the ways symptoms, daily functioning, and life experiences often overlap.

Our work together may include:

  • ADHD informed strategies for focus, follow through, and emotional regulation

  • Sleep disruption, racing thoughts, and difficulty settling the mind

  • Boundary setting, communication, and self-worth work
